Benjamin O. Asamoah, PhD
Personal Profile
Mr. Benjamin Asamoah holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from
the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST, Ghana). Following his graduation in 2010, he was appointed as a teaching assistant at the Physics department. In 2016, he pursued a double master’s program in Photonics and graduated in 2018 with MSc. in Photonics from the University of Eastern Finland (UEF, Finland), and MSc. in Advanced Materials
for Photonics applications from ITMO University (Russia) sponsored by the Finnish government scholarship scheme.
He is currently a second year Ph.D. student at the University of Eastern
of Finland and doubles as teaching assistant. His current studies
involve the fabrication and characterization of metallic nanostructures for plasmonic nanolasers and semiconductor diffractive Optics. He is also generally involved in the development optical techniques for the identification and characterization of microplastics in water and other liquid media. In between his academic life,
Mr. Benjamin Asamoah has also worked with Philips lighting West Africa as the product marketing manager for the region where he was involved in the Black Star Square and the Ghana National Theatre outdoor lighting projects. He also worked Energiebau Sunergy Ghana Ltd installing solar systems across the regions of Ghana. His earlier education and professional experiences may have had a strong bearing on his career path. He had all his earlier educations at the Eastern region of Ghana: SDA and Nana Osae Djan and St. Martin’s Senior high. He hopes to become an expert in the related fields of Photonics and Optics to apply his attained knowledge and experience for the betterment of humanity.
